James L. Foster, MD
Cardiothoracic Surgery
Dr. James L. Foster is a specialist in cardiac and thoracic surgery. He joined Macon CardioVascular Institute in July of 2005. He is now with CardioThoracic Surgery, Navicent Health Physician Group. He is a native of Lavonia, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Biology. He then earned a degree in medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed a general surgery residency at Mercer University/Medical Center of Central Georgia followed by a cardiothoracic fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He is the recipient of numerous awards including intern of the year, resident of the year, and resident teacher of the year. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. His presentations at professional meetings have included topics on current surgical management of blunt thoracic aortic injuries, cardiac injuries in association with sternal fractures, and pulmonary artery aneurysmal disease.
