Oncology
Oncology is a specialized branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. It encompasses medical oncology, which utilizes chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and other drugs to combat cancer. Radiation oncology is also a part of oncology, which involves utilizing radiation therapy to treat cancer. Additionally, surgical oncology involves the use of surgical procedures and other interventions to manage cancer. Oncologists specialize in administering drug treatments for people with both early and advanced stage cancers that affect various body systems, such as organs, muscles, bones, and connective tissues. However, individuals with early-stage cancers may only require surgery or radiation therapy, and may not need the care of an oncologist.
